Then categories within questioned:

Baby shower and related:

Veronica personal shopping/services:

Cash withdrawals without receipts:

Mixed family expenses:

Possible duplicate/reimbursement errors:

No one said:

Veronica stole $42,300.

Then messages reduced ambiguity.

Elaine explicitly approved:

$1,000 shower.

$2,000 Christmas gifts for grandchildren/nieces? She had no grandchildren. Use family gifts.

Then explicit objections.

Do not use my card for your clothes.

Date before a $1,240 department-store charge.

Receipt:

$380 clothing for Elaine.

$860 clothing for Veronica.

Then spa:

Veronica said joint sisters’ day.

Elaine’s calendar showed medical appointment that day.

Veronica alone.

Then restaurant:

Could be meal for contractors.

Receipt:

Dinner for four.

Names unknown.

Veronica admitted:

Then cash.

One text:

Elaine:

Veronica:

I told you, house things.

Elaine:

No answer.

Then three days later:

$1,500 cash deposit into Veronica’s personal checking.

Not proof same bills.

But suspicious.

Then $600 at shower.

Taken directly from wallet.

Video.

Then Monica said:

“If we limit to items with stronger documentary support of personal use or explicit objection, I can identify approximately $21,700.”

That number mattered.

Criminal prosecutors like provable amounts.

Civil fiduciary accounting can address broader disputed amounts under different burden.

Then Grace found an old voice memo Elaine had recorded accidentally? Avoid magical. No.

Instead:

Elaine had emailed her lawyer four months earlier:

I’m worried Veronica is treating my account like family money. I don’t want to accuse her because she has done so much for me.

Concern predates baby-shower conflict.
