Chapter 11 - Lily says “again” twice

Lily’s forensic interview happened two days later.
I did not sit in.
She described:
The lights going off.
Me telling her to stay.
Mrs. Turner.
Police.
Then the interviewer asked about her phrase:
“He did it again.”
Lily said Daddy made the lights go off before.
How did she know?
“Mom said Daddy did it.”
Danger.
That could be something I told her.
Then Lily described one earlier argument she personally remembered.
She said:
“Dad said Mom had to come out and then lights come back.”
That aligned with the bedroom incident.
Had Dad ever locked Mom downstairs before?
“No.”
Good.
No invented pattern.
Had Dad locked Lily downstairs?
“No.”
Had Dad hit Mom?
“No.”
Had Dad hit Lily?
“No.”
Was Lily afraid of him?
She said:
“Sometimes when he gets big mad.”
What is big mad?
“Voice.”
No physical abuse disclosure.
Important.
Then Lily said:
“Mom says Dad can still love us and do bad things.”
That sentence broke me when I read it later.
I had said something similar during separation.

Maybe too much for a seven-year-old.
