Chapter 14 - The protective order

I requested a civil protection order.

Not automatic.

Not because someone whispered abuse.

We presented:

Prior power incidents.

The basement event.

Physical grip.

Confinement allegation.

Financial-control context.

Derek denied the confinement.

Admitted turning off power.

The judge issued temporary protections while fuller proceedings continued.

Derek could not contact me directly.

Parenting communication went through a structured application.

Exchanges occurred through third parties.

No unsupervised access to my apartment building.

His contact with Lily and Noah initially became supervised because of the pending case and the children’s exposure to the incident.

Derek was furious.

Then made a smart decision.

He followed the order.

No drive-bys.

No secret texts.

No asking Lily to carry messages.

That mattered later.
