Chapter 24 - Mrs. Turner moves away

Mrs. Turner sold her condo and moved closer to her daughter two years later.
Before leaving, she knocked on my door.
By then I had moved back into the apartment for a while, then decided to leave permanently.
The building held too much.
Still, I was there packing.
Mrs. Turner handed me a flashlight.
“Your girl left this upstairs that night.”
It was not ours.
Officer Walsh had given it to Lily temporarily.
Police later forgot it.
Cheap flashlight.
I said:
“You keep it.”
Mrs. Turner shook her head.
“She told me it was the light that came when Mommy was missing.”
I almost cried.
Then stopped.
I did not want another trauma relic.
“Can I give it back to the department?”
She smiled.
“Probably where it belongs.”
May you like
I did.
No shrine.
