Emma’s tuition helped “stabilize cousin relationships.”
Ashley’s travel reduced “caregiver stress.”
My parents’ kitchen renovation created “a safer recovery residence for Noah.”
Noah had slept there four nights after the accident.
The renovation cost $38,000.
They charged $21,000 of it to his settlement.
Their moral logic was breathtaking.
The family cared for Noah.
Therefore family expenses benefited Noah.
And because I was his mother but supposedly “emotionally overwhelmed,” they deserved authority.
The guardianship filing included a psychological letter.
Signed by Dr. Ellen Morris.
I did not know her.
Helen called.
Dr. Morris had never evaluated me.
She had counseled my mother twice after the accident.
Her actual note:
Mother of injured child appears highly stressed according to grandmother’s report. Recommend family support.
My mother transformed that into:
Rachel demonstrates impaired coping and requires family oversight.
