Chapter 14 - The Third Ellison DaughterDNA records from the blue ledger revealed a truth hidden even from Nathan and Samuel.

Mara and Eleanor were not two sisters.

They were triplets.

The third infant, Rebecca Ellison, was declared dead shortly after birth. No body record existed.

David Ellison had been investigating the Vale medical network when his daughters were born. Richard’s father offered to protect one child if David transferred control of certain evidence.

Eleanor entered federal protection.

Mara remained with the family.

Rebecca disappeared into a private Vale guardianship.

She grew up under another name.

Rebecca Mercer.

Owen’s older sister.

Mara stared at the file.

“Owen is my nephew?”

“By adoption, not blood,” Samuel said. “Rebecca was raised by the Mercer family before Owen was born.”

Rebecca later discovered her identity and inherited both loyalty to the Mercers and hatred for the Vales.

She entered Richard’s house the night he died using Mara’s face, clothing, and biometric access.

The hidden-camera angle made Richard believe she was Eleanor.

She disabled the pacemaker after he admitted using both surviving sisters.

But Owen later betrayed Rebecca too.

The blue ledger listed her as:

Asset no longer reliable.

Her current location remained unknown.

Vanessa looked toward Lillian.

“Was Rebecca the woman who sent the warning message?”

Possibly.

The wording—do not let Vanessa come here—may have been an attempt to stop Owen from using the transmitter.

Rebecca could have helped move Lillian from Maine.

She may also have triggered the basement voice to lure Vanessa away from Owen’s control.

Her actions alternated between rescue and manipulation, just like every other adult in the network.

The island console restored power.

Richard’s final key activated Eleanor’s independent restitution transfer.

The process began again.

This time, Owen could not stop it remotely because the pacemaker authorization severed his master access.

The fortune started moving out of the family trust.

Victim funds opened across multiple states.

Corporate voting power shifted into temporary public stewardship.

Vanessa watched the numbers fall.

The empire she once tried to kill for was dissolving.

Mara stood beside her.

“Do you regret authorizing it?”

Vanessa looked at the bandage beneath her collarbone.

“I regret thinking it was ever mine.”

The transfer reached completion.

But no legal ending followed.

Owen remained outside immediate custody while federal warrants moved between jurisdictions. His attorneys claimed the island data had been stolen and the trust transfer invalid.

Vanessa faced investigation for attempted murder.

Lillian’s legal identity remained buried beneath a death certificate and psychiatric guardianship.

Mara’s own name belonged to a deceased woman in federal records.

Samuel faced charges for hiding evidence and participating in unauthorized confinement.

Nathan’s death had been falsely registered.

Every survivor had truth without yet having resolution.

They returned to Mara’s estate under federal protection.

The kitchen remained sealed as a crime scene.

The broken glass had been removed. The chair lay beside the unbroken monitor. The cabinet beneath the island remained open where Mara had reached for the backup injector.

Vanessa stood at the exact place where she had laughed while Mara suffocated.

“I heard Owen’s voice in my head for years,” she said.

Mara did not respond.

“I thought it was mine.”

“That does not erase what you chose.”

“I know.”

Lillian entered the kitchen slowly.

She had not stood inside the house since before Richard married Mara.

The wall screen activated without anyone touching it.

A live camera feed appeared from an unknown room.

Rebecca sat beneath a single light.

She looked like Mara, only harder.

Owen stood behind her with one hand on her shoulder.

He was not holding her prisoner.

They appeared to be working together.

Rebecca looked into the camera.

“The restitution transfer released the money.”

Owen smiled.

“But it also opened the names Richard hid.”

A list began scrolling.

Judges.

Doctors.

Guardians.

Children.

Then Mara’s name appeared beside a confidential designation:

ORIGINAL VALE BENEFICIARY.

Mara frowned.

“I’m not a Vale.”

Rebecca leaned toward the camera.

“Richard did not marry you into the family.”

The screen zoomed in on an old birth certificate.

May you like

“He married you back into it.”

👉 Mara learned the Ellison triplets were biologically connected to Richard’s own bloodline, making the marriage—and the trust—far more dangerous than anyone understood.
