Emma opened her eyes.

“Can I see her?”
A nurse brought the bassinet closer.
Emma touched one tiny hand through the access opening.
“What did they call her on the chart?”
“Baby Girl Bell-Carrington until you choose.”
Emma looked at Ethan.
“Rose.”

“After Rosa Cole?”
“After every woman whose name they used and erased. But she will not carry their unfinished work.”
The child became Rose Bell Carrington.

He was arrested before leaving the pavilion.
Victor was captured in the service tunnel carrying Rachel’s passport, Samuel’s founder token, and three unsigned birth certificates.
Rachel surrendered in the maternity corridor.
Samuel remained beside Grace until she asked him to leave.
“You raised me,” she said. “That does not make this room yours.”
He obeyed.

The court agreed.
Margaret finally removed Robert’s founder seal from the ginger water.
Nothing happened.

She placed it inside a transparent bag under police supervision.
Emma did not watch.
Her attention remained on Rose.
Three days later, Grace requested a secure video call.
She appeared pale, holding no baby because Benjamin remained in neonatal care.
“I was told you wanted my child removed,” Grace said.
Emma answered:
“I learned your name during labor.”
“Father said Thomas Bell’s daughter would treat me as Rosa’s substitute.”
“Samuel told Ethan he might be a substitute too.”
Grace looked down.
“Was he?”
“No. The records were substituted. The children were real.”
Grace’s eyes filled.
She described her life.
Samuel found her at six inside a Carrington-funded residence. He told her Rosa died and public recognition would allow Margaret to claim her.
He became her only consistent parent.
At seventeen, Victor began training her to sign reserve documents.
At twenty-six, Adrian entered the residence claiming he wanted to expose Margaret.
Grace loved him.
That fact did not make the relationship entirely false.
Adrian later revealed that a child between them could challenge Emma’s future heir.
Grace attempted to leave.
Samuel convinced her remaining near Adrian would allow them to dismantle Founder’s Blood from within.
Again, a father used his daughter’s endurance as an investigative strategy.
“Did you consent to pregnancy?” Emma asked.
“I consented to trying for a child with the man I loved. I did not consent to our child becoming a trust mechanism.”
“Then Benjamin is your son. Not their declaration.”
Grace began crying.
Emma did not promise instant sisterhood or a shared family.
She said:
“When you are ready, our attorneys can separate the medical records from the property records. You should have your own lawyer.”
“Miriam offered.”
“Miriam’s position is part of the trust. Choose someone outside it.”
Grace nodded.
The women ended the call without calling each other sisters.
That relationship belonged to Ethan and Grace first, if they wanted it.
Ethan met Grace several weeks later through glass.
She studied his face.
“You look like Father.”
“So do you around the eyes.”
“Did Margaret love you?”
Ethan considered.
“She loved controlling the role I played in her life. Sometimes she loved me too. I cannot separate every memory yet.”
Grace understood immediately.
Samuel had attended her illnesses and restricted her freedom.
Raised her and used her.
Affection and control had occupied the same home.
The two siblings began with factual messages.
Medical history.
Childhood photographs.
Samuel’s letters.
No demand for emotional closeness.
Rose and Benjamin remained in neonatal care for five and seven weeks.
They left through different hospital doors with their mothers.
