Tommy’s IV line had been cut cleanly. Diane lay unconscious beside the bed after someone injected her with the same sedative used on her son.
Security footage showed Dr. Calvin Rusk entering in a surgeon’s coat. He presented forged transfer orders and moved Tommy through a secured ambulance bay.
The ambulance belonged to Blackridge Medical Response.
Police located it abandoned beneath an overpass.
Inside were Tommy’s hospital blanket, a child-sized oxygen mask, and Wade’s bandages.
Wade had escaped police custody during a staged medical emergency.
Someone inside the county detention system had helped him.
Grant returned to Diane’s bedside after she regained consciousness.
She remembered Rusk leaning close before the injection.
“He said Tommy belonged to the mission now.”
“What does that mean?”
“I don’t know.”
“He called your son Dependent T.”
Diane started crying.
Wade had pressured her to change Tommy’s surname after the wedding. The paperwork was already prepared.
Once Tommy became Tommy Holloway legally, Blackridge could connect him to Wade’s private health-insurance plan and move him between company facilities as a dependent patient.
The wedding was not only emotional cover.
It created a legal identity Blackridge intended to use.
Ortiz recovered Noah’s blood message from the warehouse.
Laboratory analysis showed the blood was mixed with a fluorescent tracking compound. Under ultraviolet light, additional writing appeared:
OLD CHAPEL. CHILD’S KEY. MIDNIGHT.
The wedding had taken place in Diane’s backyard, but the marriage license listed a ceremony at St. Bartholomew’s Chapel, an abandoned property owned by Everett’s company.
Diane had signed without noticing the location.
Again, Wade placed a document before her and counted on her desire not to question it.
Police searched the chapel.
Beneath the altar was a steel door requiring Ava’s brass key.
Inside they found Blackridge’s domestic archive.
Video files documented secret detention rooms, falsified psychiatric diagnoses, and forced medication of witnesses.
Tommy’s bedroom was one of many.
Grant’s Romania mission occupied an entire server.
The footage showed Noah and Dr. Emil Varga surviving the explosion. Blackridge contractors captured them before Grant’s extraction team arrived.
The company had kept both men alive because Varga knew how to neutralize a nerve compound Blackridge planned to sell.
Noah protected him.
Wade interrogated Noah.
Rusk controlled the drugs.
Fiona smuggled evidence out while publicly remaining part of the operation.
Grant finally understood why she rescued and threatened people in the same night. She wanted the archive, but she no longer trusted any official investigation.
A live feed opened on the chapel monitor.
Tommy sat inside a moving vehicle between Wade and Dr. Rusk. His wrists were free, but his body sagged from medication.
Rusk looked into the camera.
“Bring Noah and the archive key to the Philadelphia freight terminal.”
Grant answered through the system.
“I don’t have Noah.”
Rusk smiled.
“He is standing behind you.”
Grant turned.
A figure emerged from the chapel shadows.
Noah held a pistol.
He aimed it at Ortiz.
