Chapter 6 - Evelyn’s medicine

Police searched Evelyn’s home under warrant after the child interview and consultation with prosecutors.

They found prescription medication used by Evelyn for sleep.

I will not name it.

The name is not important to the story.

What mattered was that it was not prescribed to infants.

It was not an infant treatment.

It carried clear warnings against giving it to children without medical direction.

Evelyn had filled a prescription several weeks earlier.

The remaining count was lower than expected based on her stated use.

That did not prove she gave missing tablets to the babies.

Adults misplace pills.

Take them differently.

Discard them.

The prosecution needed more.

Pharmacy records established supply.

Toxicology could establish exposure.

Lucy could describe observation.

Texts could establish knowledge.

Each piece had limits.

Together they would matter.

Evelyn’s lawyer immediately issued a statement:

“Mrs. Miller categorically denies intentionally harming her grandchildren.”

Notice the word intentionally.

Not:

Never administered anything.

That wording caught my attention.

My attorney told me not to speculate.

Too late emotionally.

May you like

But publicly, I stayed quiet.

For once.
