PART 4
Vivian tried charm first.
She always did.
She stood beneath the chandelier with perfect posture and a wounded expression.
“My husband has dementia.”
“He falls often.”
“He becomes emotional when Isabella appears.”
“She has been estranged for years.”
Detective Hale said nothing.
She only watched Richard’s bruised wrist.
Grace Monroe walked toward the marble table and photographed the broken teacup.
The elder-abuse investigator asked Richard if he wanted medical help.
Vivian answered again.
“He does not.”
Isabella turned.
“Stop speaking for him.”
Vivian’s mask cracked.
“This family was peaceful before you came back.”
Richard whispered, “No.”
Everyone went still.
Vivian looked at him.
Richard’s eyes stayed on Isabella.
“No, it wasn’t.”
His voice shook.
“She took my phone.”
“She took my chair.”
“She told them I was confused.”
Vivian’s face went cold.
“Richard.”
He flinched again.
Detective Hale noticed.
So did everyone else.
Marcus stepped forward.
“He’s not well.”
“He signed power of attorney.”
Grace looked up from the tablet.
“Yes.”
“He signed several documents.”
“Most of them after heavy sedative prescriptions were filled.”
Marcus’s face changed.
Vivian’s voice sharpened.
“You have no authority to access those records.”
Grace smiled slightly.
“Court order.”
That word hit the foyer like thunder.
Isabella opened the sealed folder.
Inside were copies of the prescriptions, bank transfers, and signed estate documents.
She laid them on the marble table one by one.
“Three months after I was forced out, Vivian became medical proxy.”
“Six months later, Marcus became business operations advisor.”
“One year later, the family foundation began transferring funds to shell vendors.”
“Two years later, Dad’s personal nurse was fired.”
“Four years later, his signature changed completely.”
Richard covered his face.
Vivian said, “This is harassment.”
Isabella picked up a photograph.
It showed Richard in a wheelchair outside the pantry hallway.
Date stamped.
Time stamped.
Marcus standing behind him.
No nurse.
No cane.
No dignity.
“You forgot the mansion camera system was installed by my mother’s trust.”
Vivian stopped breathing.
Isabella’s voice dropped.
May you like
“And I still had access to the backup.”
