At the beginning of Maya’s examination, it stood against the wall beneath the security camera. After Ethan and Lorraine were removed, it sat several inches closer to the privacy curtain.
No staff member remembered moving it.
Tessa locked the room and called Detective Lena.
Inside the cabinet’s lower drawer, police found a burner phone connected to a portable battery. Its camera faced through a narrow gap toward Maya’s bed.

Its serial number matched equipment issued to Victor’s legal department.
Nora stared toward the ceiling camera.
“Who placed the phone knew exactly where hospital security couldn’t see.”
Tessa opened the facilities map.
