Chapter 10 - GEORGE DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT THE CLINICGeorge stayed with us for three nights after Christmas.
Linda remained at home.
They were not legally separated.

The second night he said:
“I didn’t know she took him to that doctor.”
“Did you know she had copies of the guardianship order?”
“I knew she kept the paperwork.”
“Page one only?”
“No.”
“Did you know she was using it?”
“No.”
He looked sick.
Then:
“She asked me something in October.”
“What?”
“What I would do if you... got sick again.”
My skin prickled.
“What kind of sick?”
“She didn’t say.”
“You know what she meant.”
George looked down.
My medication history.
Relapse.
“Did you tell her I was using?”
“No.”
“Was I?”
“No.”
“What did you say?”
“That if you ever couldn’t care for Evan again, we’d help.”
“And she heard?”
“I don’t know.”
