Chapter 12 - PEYTON’S FORMAL INTERVIEWPeyton’s forensic interview lasted fifty-three minutes.

She described Thursday.
Friday.
Saturday.
No coaching.
No dramatic expansion.
Bryce had been calling her:
Baby.
Weak.
Crybaby.
He knocked her hat into snow.
Took one glove and threw it near the woodpile.
Thursday he bumped her near the back railing.
She told Walter.
Walter said:
“Bryce is making you tougher.”
Then:
“Stop running to adults every time you don’t like something.”
Friday, Bryce whispered at breakfast:
“Grandpa thinks you’re pathetic.”
Peyton ignored him.
Saturday on the porch, before the source moment, Bryce said:
“Move.”
She said:
“You can go around.”
He replied:
“Make me.”
Then shoved her.
No premeditated murder attempt.
No sinister plan.
