Walter knew that.
So did everyone.
One covered the driveway.
One covered the front porch.
The porch camera should have recorded Peyton’s fall.
When Deputy Monroe requested preservation, Walter said:
“It wasn’t working.”
My heart sank.
The system app showed the porch camera offline beginning Friday afternoon.
One day before the shove.
Coincidence?
Possible.
Winter weather damaged equipment.
Power interruptions happened.
The driveway camera still worked.
No magical proof.
Then the property-management company sent service logs.
The porch camera had been manually disabled through the owner account.
Friday, 3:14 p.m.

WALTER_B.
Nelson stared at the record.
“Dad turned it off.”
“Why?” I asked.
He had no answer.

Disabling a camera was not proof of a plan to hurt Peyton.
But it became a question Walter now needed to answer.
