Evan was notified because he was Lily’s father and shared legal custody.
That call happened before midnight.
I was there when Sarah received his message.
I’m coming.
She sat down.
“He’s going to take her.”
I said:
“He’s coming to see his injured daughter.”
“He hates Grant.”
“That is not the same sentence.”
“He’s been waiting for this.”
“Sarah.”
“What?”
“Stop talking like the problem is who finds out.”
Her face collapsed.
She whispered:
“I know.”
