Chapter 10

No arrest happened in the hospital suite.

No courtroom scene began.

No company takeover was completed or reversed.

No financial outcome was revealed.

No final punishment arrived beneath the warm clinical lights.

The confrontation ended with Ethan Vale standing in front of the wheelchair Mara thought defined him.

His hospital gown hung loosely from his injured frame.

Bandages wrapped his forearm and knee.

The small cut on his cheek had not fully healed.

But he was standing.

Mara stood frozen near the bed, polished makeup unable to hide the fear in her face.

Victor held the unsigned legal folder halfway open, his confidence gone, eyes fixed on the rusted storage-unit key in Ethan’s hand.

The private hospital suite remained quiet around them.

Medical monitors.

Nighttime Asheville skyline.

Wheelchair brakes locked.

Pen unused.

Smartwatch still recording.

Ethan had not won everything.

Not yet.

He had not reclaimed the company on-screen.

He had not exposed the full evidence.

He had not opened Storage Unit 19.

But Mara had called him useless.

Victor had said Vale Robotics would belong to them.

And Ethan had preserved both.

He looked at the two people who thought injury had made him easy to erase.

Then he lowered the smartwatch slowly.

The playback had already said enough.

Mara had betrayed him with a whisper.

May you like

Victor had betrayed him with a folder.

And Ethan had answered by standing.
