Ethan tapped the smartwatch once.
A short playback filled the room.
Mara’s own voice emerged, low and unmistakable.
“He’s useless now. Just make him sign everything.”
Mara’s face went white.
Victor’s eyes closed for half a second.
Then his voice followed.
“Once he signs, Vale Robotics belongs to us.”
Ethan stopped the playback.
He did not need more.
No full legal case.
No complete company outcome.
No takeover reversal.
No police.
No courtroom.
Just enough truth to make denial useless inside that room.
Mara grabbed for sympathy.
“Ethan, you don’t understand. We were under pressure.”
He looked at her.
“You were under greed.”
Victor snapped, “You’re not thinking clearly.”
Ethan held up the unsigned folder with his injured hand.
“Clear enough not to sign.”
Mara looked toward the door.
No security entered.
No attorney walked in.
No final punishment arrived.
That made the moment sharper.
They still had to stand there with what they had said.
Ethan turned the rusted key again.
“Storage Unit 19,” he said quietly.
Victor’s face betrayed him before he could stop it.
Mara saw.
“What is in Storage Unit 19?”
Ethan looked at her.
