Grace found a draft on Daniel’s business server after formal discovery began.
POST-MARITAL PROPERTY EQUALIZATION AGREEMENT.
Prepared two months earlier.
It proposed:
Joint beneficial ownership of the mansion.
Equal ownership of certain investment accounts.
Transfer of Rosewood Trust assets into a marital holding company.
Guaranteed lifetime support for Evelyn at $10,000 monthly adjusted for inflation.
I laughed until I almost cried.
“Did he ever give me this?”
“No evidence.”
“Why draft it?”
Grace pointed to email.
Daniel to attorney:
Emily responds badly when she thinks she’s being pressured. Need to present this as estate simplification.
His attorney replied:
She will need independent counsel.
Daniel:
Can we do it at family meeting?
Attorney:
No.
Good lawyer.
Then another email to Evelyn:
Once Emily signs equalization, house issue is finished.
Evelyn:
And Palm Beach?
Daniel:
One thing at a time.
The slap had not happened because of the agreement directly.
But the family was already planning to convert informal dependence into permanent rights.
