Evelyn eventually told the truth.

Travel.
Gifts.
Memberships.
Supporting relatives.
Not gambling.
No secret lover.
Lifestyle.
Daniel asked me to cover monthly spending so she would stop drawing down principal.

To Evelyn, he described it as coming from a Bennett family account.
Technically my Hawthorne family-support account had been labeled:
BENNETT FAMILY DISCRETIONARY.
Because Bennett was my married name.
That semantic accident helped the lie survive.
Evelyn genuinely believed her son controlled the fund.
