Chapter 24 - Ellen and Cassandra
Ellen never wanted a relationship with Cassandra again.
That was her right.
But two years after the wedding, Cassandra requested one mediated meeting.
Ellen almost refused.
Then agreed to thirty minutes.
I did not attend.
Later Ellen told me what happened.
Cassandra said:
“I thought you hated me.”
Ellen answered:
“I disliked some choices. I did not hate you.”
“I thought you were trying to end my marriage.”
“I was trying to understand your finances.”
“That felt like the same thing.”
Ellen said:
“It should not have.”
Cassandra cried.
Then:
“I slapped you.”
“Yes.”
“I’m sorry.”
Ellen answered:
“I accept that you are sorry.”
Not:
I forgive you.
Not:
Everything is okay.
Precise.
Then Cassandra said:
“Michael lied to me.”
Ellen responded:
May you like
“That explains your anger. It does not transfer your hand to him.”
I married a very good woman.
