Evelyn stared at her husband.
“Did you create another child?”
“No.”
The contract carried his signature.

Vivian claimed the initials referred to Rebecca Vale—her adopted identity.

Graham looked as though he might strike her.

Caroline Shaw explained.

For once, fear in her face appeared real.

Investigators traced Henry’s newborn bracelet to a private airfield outside Nashville.
A chartered jet had departed for Virginia that morning under Alexander’s founder credential.

One newborn male.
Destination: an estate once owned by Adrian Vale.
Evelyn prepared to follow through federal channels.
Graham asked to go.
“He is my son.”
“You learned that today.”
“He is still my son.”
“And Noah and Lucas?”
“They are too.”
Evelyn looked into his face.
“Then begin by understanding that fatherhood is not a claim. It is what you do when power asks you to sacrifice a child.”
Graham lowered his eyes.
The Virginia estate was surrounded before the jet landed.
The aircraft arrived empty.
Alexander had switched planes in Kentucky.
Inside the abandoned cabin, investigators found Henry’s blanket and a live smartphone.
Alexander appeared on-screen.
Behind him stood three bassinets.
Daniel.
Henry.
And another infant girl.
Celeste recognized the third child immediately.
“No.”
Evelyn turned.
“Who is she?”
Celeste whispered, “My daughter.”
Evelyn stared.
Celeste claimed she had only two children: Marcus and Evelyn.
The girl’s bracelet read:
Isabelle Vale.
The name of Evelyn’s grandmother.
Alexander smiled.
“Adrian built an empire around descendants. I built descendants around the empire.”
He had not preserved only Celeste’s embryos.
