The answer was more honest than reassurance.
Marcus explained that Celeste gave birth to him at seventeen and placed him with trusted guardians. Adrian forced the pregnancy out of the public record to protect the Vale reputation.
Years later, Celeste found Marcus and recruited him into her investigation of Alexander.

“You believe him more than me.”

“No.”
The independent DNA test confirmed Marcus and Evelyn shared the same mother.
Celeste Vale had two living adult children.
The trust’s ownership calculation changed instantly.
Evelyn held forty percent.

The remaining twenty belonged collectively to Celeste’s younger descendants: Noah, Lucas, and Daniel.
No one possessed sole control.

They argued she had used the babies as leverage during a corporate dispute.
Evelyn’s full security video showed the shove, Vivian’s insult, and Graham’s demand that she surrender all claims.
The two versions demonstrated how easily context became a weapon.
The judge postponed any final custody decision.
No legal resolution followed.
But he ordered the corporate freeze modified, allowing essential payroll and operations to continue under a neutral administrator.
The administrator selected was Warren Price.
Marcus recognized the name.
Warren had served Alexander’s hidden office for fifteen years.
The “neutral” appointment restored Alexander’s access indirectly.
Evelyn instructed Marcus to challenge it.
Before he could file, Graham stepped into the hospital room carrying Vivian’s private ledger.
“I can remove Warren.”
“How?”
“This proves my mother paid him through offshore accounts.”
“Where did you get it?”
“From Whitecrest.”
“Why didn’t security find it?”
“Because I hid it.”
Graham had known about some of Vivian’s transfers for months.
He collected evidence as protection against her.
He never shared it with Evelyn.
“I was afraid she would remove me from the company,” he admitted.
“You watched her steal while telling yourself you were gathering proof.”
“Yes.”
“Why bring it now?”
“Because she has Daniel.”
“And because your own accounts are frozen.”
His silence answered.
The ledger exposed Warren, Judge Crane, Dr. Reed, and Victor Sloan as recipients of Whitmore Foundation money.
It also included regular payments to Marcus.
Evelyn looked at him.
Marcus examined the account numbers.
“They are not mine.”
“The recipient uses your name.”
Marcus traced the routing.
The payments entered an account created with his Social Security number and a second biometric profile.
Someone had built a financial double of Marcus Kane.
Then hospital security reported a visitor downstairs.
A man identical to Marcus stood in the lobby demanding access to Evelyn.
