Chapter 18 - FOUR BABIES WITHOUT VOTES

The infants entered independent family-court review.

No Vale board attended.

No Whitmore executive voted.

No founder key opened the courtroom.

Noah and Lucas remained with Evelyn.

Independent testing confirmed Graham was their biological father. Hospital records confirmed Evelyn had carried and delivered both boys.

The result did not restore Graham’s household authority.

He had helped prepare the false paternity accusation, shoved Evelyn while she held the twins, and left them in dangerous cold while demanding her property.

His relationship with the children would be decided through safety review rather than marriage.

Daniel’s case came next.

Daniel had been created from an embryo belonging genetically to Celeste and Evelyn’s deceased father. Celeste’s old directive allowed a birth only if Evelyn approved after reaching adulthood.

Evelyn had never been asked.

Jenna Shaw, the gestational carrier, had been told she was carrying a child for the surviving family of a deceased woman. She believed an independent guardian would meet her after delivery.

Instead, Vivian took Daniel and threatened Jenna’s sister Caroline.

Jenna had never consented to surrender the baby to Alexander, Vivian, the trust, or Celeste personally.

When an advocate asked what she wanted, Jenna answered:

“I carried him. I spoke to him every night. I was told his family would love him, not that a company would own him.”

Celeste felt a genetic and emotional claim.

The court did not call that feeling meaningless.

It did not call it custody.

Jenna became Daniel’s legal mother after evaluation confirmed she wanted and could safely raise him. Celeste received the right to request a future relationship through Daniel’s interests and Jenna’s consent.

Daniel kept the surname Shaw.

His genetic history remained accurate and sealed from public exploitation.

Henry’s case exposed the most disturbing reproductive order.

DNA confirmed Graham was his biological father.

The preserved egg belonged to Vivian.

She had used her own genetic material with a sample stolen from her son.

Henry was biologically both Graham’s son and maternal half-brother.

The court prohibited every sensational headline from becoming part of the infant’s legal identity.

He was not a scandal.

He was not proof of Vivian’s madness.

He was a child created through reproductive abuse.

Caroline Shaw had carried him after being told Graham and his anonymous wife had consented. She learned the truth only after delivery, when Vivian removed the baby before Caroline could hold him.

Caroline requested custody.

Graham also requested recognition.

Vivian demanded guardian status based on genetic motherhood and the provisional adoption.

The judge rejected her claim immediately.

Intentional fraud did not create parental priority.

Caroline became Henry’s legal mother.

Graham’s biological relationship remained recorded, but he received no immediate custody or contact while his criminal case and parental evaluation continued.

Vivian received none.

The provisional Vale adoption could not turn Henry into her corporate representative.

Isabelle had been created from another embryo genetically belonging to Celeste and Evelyn’s deceased father.

Her gestational carrier was Mara Ellis, a former Vale Foundation laboratory assistant.

Mara had agreed to carry a child for anonymous parents after receiving an infertility-surrogacy offer. Alexander told her the baby died during delivery.

She remained sedated while Isabelle was moved to Whitecrest.

Investigators found Mara in a rehabilitation clinic operating under a false psychiatric record.

When she saw Isabelle, she began crying before anyone explained the DNA.

“I heard her,” she whispered. “They told me the sound came from another room.”

Mara requested to raise her.

Celeste did not contest the request after what happened with Daniel.

Isabelle became Isabelle Ellis.

Celeste could seek a relationship later.

No infant took the Vale surname automatically.

The four boys who had appeared together in the Franklin safe room separated into different homes.

Noah and Lucas with Evelyn.

Daniel with Jenna.

Henry with Caroline.

Isabelle with Mara.

The arrangement disappointed reporters who expected a restored dynasty nursery.

It relieved the advocates responsible for the children.

Biology could create relationships.

It did not require one household.

Eliana requested no parental role toward any infant.

She supplied records and withdrew.

Marcus did the same.

Michael asked that his identity case proceed separately so no child’s guardianship depended upon whether he was recognized.

The divided archive then identified hundreds of other people whose birth, adoption, or protection files had been altered.

The court established regional review teams.

Some adults wanted original names restored.

Others wanted to retain the identities under which they had built lives.

Some wanted biological relatives contacted.

Others did not.

No mass release occurred.

No mass return.

A person hidden from an abusive parent was not sent back because Alexander’s system had been corrupt.

A person held after danger ended received a route to leave.

Children created through stolen samples received accurate medical histories without becoming public exhibits.

The public trust funded advocates, genetic counseling, housing, medical care, and restitution.

It held no guardianship vote.

Vale Crown’s operating companies continued paying workers under receivership.

The empire had been frozen.

Its hospitals, factories, and payroll did not need to remain frozen forever.

Evelyn insisted that separating control from services mattered.

“Forty thousand employees did not throw my sons into the snow.”

The statement became the principle guiding restructuring.

Then Vivian was indicted.

The charges included the assault at Whitecrest, coercive divorce fraud, corruption, identity conspiracy, kidnapping Daniel, reproductive crimes involving Henry, and two counts of reckless child endangerment involving Noah and Lucas.

Her attorneys planned to argue that everything she had done was intended to preserve a family now scattered among strangers.

Evelyn looked toward the twins sleeping beside her.

The family had not been scattered by independent review.

May you like

It had been scattered when adults created children as instruments and called control love.

👉 The infants received mothers and homes instead of voting rights, while Vivian prepared to defend the snowy night that had exposed every secret she hoped to inherit.
