Chapter 10 - Before Justin Reads

Justin’s exact diagnosis was not revealed.
The twins’ biological father was not named.
The complete fraud evidence stayed hidden.
No arrests were shown.
No final legal outcome arrived.
The story ended in the mahogany study of the luxurious family home, under warm mansion lights and cold city-window reflections, with hospital photographs scattered across the desk and a sealed medical folder trapped between three trembling hands.
Claire stood behind the desk in her ivory satin robe, long blonde hair pinned loosely, tearful face calm with chilling certainty.
Justin stood opposite her in his fitted black suit, wedding ring still on his hand, arrogance replaced by confusion and dread.
Rachel stood beside him in pale-pink satin, both hands covering her mouth, her victorious expression twisted into panic.
Martha held one hand over the sealed folder, burgundy dress trembling, pearl earrings shaking as she silently begged for the truth to remain buried.
The twins slept safely in their carriers near the foyer, untouched by the confrontation.
The divorce folder remained open.
The surgical report stayed unreadable.
The laptop glowed quietly beside the smartphone.
Claire looked directly into Justin’s eyes.
“Ask your mother why she begged me never to show you this.”
Justin’s mouth trembled.
His gaze moved from Claire to Martha, then to Rachel, then back to the folder.
Martha did not let go.
Rachel did not breathe.
Claire did not flinch.
No one opened the report.
But Justin finally understood the most terrifying part.

Claire was not trying to destroy him with something false.
She was forcing him to ask why everyone else was so afraid of what was real.
