Chapter 10 - The Envelope Stays Sealed

The envelope’s contents were not revealed.

The secret Elena uncovered remained hidden.

Sarah Collins’s full plan was not explained.

No custody outcome was shown.

Julian’s final consequences did not arrive.

The story ended inside the dark mahogany office of the Connecticut mansion, with icy winter daylight spilling through the windows, warm chandelier light over the desk, and the empty nursery visible through the hallway behind him.

Julian Blackwood stood frozen in his cream knit sweater, one hand clutching his smartphone, the other hovering near the cream envelope he had opened only a fraction.

The diamond tennis bracelet lay across his knuckles, then slipped back onto the desk beside the black fountain pen.

The birth document remained unreadable.

The envelope remained sealed enough to keep its truth hidden.

Behind him, the mansion was silent.

The bare Christmas tree stood downstairs.

The nursery crib had no mattress.

Elena’s wardrobe was empty.

The garden door remained open in a faint reflection, marking the path where she had carried Harrison out before Julian stepped inside.

Sarah Collins’s voice came through the phone, cold and absolute.

“Mr. Blackwood, do not open that envelope until you understand what your wife discovered.”

Julian’s mouth trembled.

For the first time, he did not look like a husband demanding answers.

He looked like a man realizing the answers had already been arranged without him.

Somewhere beyond the snow and glass, Elena was gone with Harrison.

Not lost.

Not fleeing blindly.

Gone by design.

Julian stared at the partly opened envelope.

He did not know what she had found.

He did not know where she had taken their son.

He only knew the mansion was empty because Elena had erased herself from his reach before he even knew she was leaving.
