Chapter 14 - SARAH GETS ANGRY AT MERecovery gave Sarah enough strength to become furious.

Good.
One afternoon she said:
“You don’t get to make this about forgiving yourself.”
I froze.
“I’m not.”
“You are.”
She looked at the expensive private room I had arranged after insurance issues were clarified.
“You keep fixing things.”
“That’s what I do.”
“I know.”
There it was.
Same criticism from seven years earlier.
“You investigated Marcus.”
“I was right.”
Her eyes hardened.
“That is exactly the problem.”
I stopped.
She continued:
“You think being right about danger made you right about controlling me.”
I said nothing.
“You told me if I married him not to come back.”
“Yes.”
“So when I needed to come back, what did you think I heard in my head?”
I knew.
I told you so.
My shame.
Her anticipated humiliation.
Sarah cried.
“I needed a brother, Nathan. Not a judge.”
I left the room afterward.
