I stared.
“He knew you existed.”
“Yes.”
“He didn’t know the house.”
“No.”
“How?”
“I never showed him.”
That was why.
My absence became one safe place Marcus could not map.
I hated the irony.
Lily had seen photographs.
Sarah told stories.
Uncle Nathan fixes hearts.
Uncle Nathan has a house where snow looks blue at night.
Uncle Nathan makes terrible pancakes.
