Chapter 13 - THE POST I SHOULD NOT HAVE MADEI made my worst mistake six days after Emma came home.

I was awake at 2:14 a.m.

Angry.

Tired.

Reading messages from people asking why Emma had been hospitalized.

I posted in a private neighborhood mothers’ group:

If your child is ever given “calming drops” by another adult, do not let anyone tell you it is harmless. Emma is recovering from something no child should ever have been given.

I did not name Linda.

Someone inferred.

Then screenshotted.

By morning, Linda’s name was circulating.

Her address appeared.

Someone threw eggs at her garage.

Another person posted a photo from church.

Her lawyer filed an emergency motion arguing prejudicial publicity and harassment.

Detective Ellis called me.

“Delete it.”

“I didn’t name her.”

“You gave enough information.”

“I was warning people.”

“You were also creating noise around an active investigation.”

I deleted it.

Then publicly asked people not to contact or harass anyone involved.

Damage done.

Michael was furious.

For once, correctly.

“You made Mom a target.”

“She drugged our daughter.”

“Allegedly.”

I stared.

Then realized his lawyer had taught him the word.

“Do not use courtroom vocabulary at me.”

He left.

I still regretted the post.

Anger is not evidence preservation.
