Chapter 22 - MY MARRIAGEI filed for legal separation before the criminal cases resolved.

Not divorce.
At first.
I did not know what I wanted.
Michael moved into a furnished apartment.
We communicated through an app about Noah.
Emma’s contact remained therapist-guided.
Michael began individual counseling.
I did too.
At our first joint parenting session, he said:
“I thought Hannah would overreact.”
I almost left.
The therapist asked:
“What would an overreaction have been?”
Michael stared.
“Taking Mom away from the kids.”
“Would that have protected Emma from being given the medication again?”
Silence.
“Yes.”
“Then was it an overreaction?”
Michael began crying.
Not performative.
He finally said:
“No.”
I stayed for the rest of the session.

I still filed for divorce three months later.
Understanding does not obligate reconciliation.
