Chapter 16 - THE DOORBELL CLIPA camera across the street from Linda’s house captured something police had initially missed.
Not because the investigators were incompetent.
Because the angle was poor.
Enhanced review showed Linda walking Michael and Emma to the car that morning.
Emma carried her backpack.
Michael carried the blue bottle.
Linda handed him something.
Small.
He put it into the side pocket of his work bag.
What?
Could not see.
Michael eventually said it was an herbal bottle.
Why take it?
His answer:
“To make sure Mom stopped using it with Emma.”
That sounded almost responsible.
Until Detective Ellis asked:
“Why didn’t you give it to police or doctors when Emma collapsed?”
Michael had no good answer.
He had kept the bottle in his office desk.
Police recovered it.
Testing:
Herbal product only.
No prescription medication.
That helped Michael.
Then hurt him.
