The original fracture occurred when Tommy fell during a confrontation in which Richard grabbed him.
Richard then lied about the context.
Weeks later, during another confrontation with Laura, Tommy’s medical cast was damaged.
Richard feared returning to the hospital because:
Laura had started accusing him of abuse.
Tommy had fresh bruises.
The prior injury story might unravel.
So Richard removed the medical cast himself.
He rebuilt it at home.
Tommy, already afraid his father searched his belongings, hid the key and note inside before the plaster hardened.
The rusty key led to Laura’s phone.
That phone did not solve the entire case.
It preserved months of context Richard had tried to control by locking the device away.
The betrayal was not one monstrous act.
It was a chain.
Force.
Lies.
Isolation.
Medical avoidance.
