As a child he had asthma.
Then dyslexia.
Then anxiety.
Every family decision bent slightly toward Mason because Mason had needs.
I did well in school.
Therefore:
“Hannah understands.”
Mason struggled with college.
I worked summers to cover expenses while Dad paid his rent.
“Hannah can handle it.”
When our grandmother left us equal inheritance, Richard encouraged me to loan Mason part of mine for his first business.
“He needs a start.”
I did.
He repaid most.
The point was not money.
It was training.
I became the child who could absorb loss.
Then I had three babies.
And the family reflex activated.
Hannah has three.
