Chapter 4 - JULIAN’S VERSIONJulian told police:

I charged at him.

He put out a hand defensively.

I slipped.

Possible.

No camera directly covered the porch.

The exterior security system had mysteriously been put into privacy mode two hours earlier.

By whom?

Julian’s newly created admin account.

He claimed he disabled recording because Victoria was moving personal belongings.

Convenient.

Not proof of assault.

The neighbor, Mrs. Patricia Lang, saw only the end.

She heard me yell:

“Get your hands off me.”

Then saw me fall.

She could not see whether Julian shoved me.

My injuries were consistent with a fall.

The law would have to deal with imperfect evidence.

I refused to invent a fist that never existed.

He did not punch me.

He did not kick me.

He put his hand on me during an argument.

I fell.
