Chapter 5 - VICTORIA’S CONDOWhy had Victoria sold her condo?

At first she said:
“Downsizing.”
Then records showed something different.
Her condo sale produced approximately $610,000 after mortgage payoff and closing costs.
Three days after closing, $350,000 went to Julian.
Not a gift, according to them.
Loan.
To his company.
Julian owned Mercer Hospitality Design, a boutique firm that designed high-end restaurants and hotels.
For years, profitable.
Then two clients defaulted.
A large Las Vegas project collapsed.
Julian personally guaranteed a business line.
His company needed cash.
Victoria sold her home partly to rescue him.
That created her housing problem.
The lake house was not merely a pretty retirement destination.
