In her mind, fifteen thousand solved everything.
No more fake invoices.
No more scattered charges.
She believed dinner was where I would be pressured into legitimizing what had already been happening.
Andrew believed I would resist.
Bonnie believed humiliation would work.
Then I said no.
And Andrew hit me.
The slap was not planned.
Nothing in evidence suggested Bonnie instructed him to strike me.
