Chapter 11 - MY KICKPolice investigated me too.

As they should have.
Video showed me opening the door and kicking Mark.
He had not struck Sophie at that exact second.
He was kneeling.
Holding the timer and cup.
Telling her not to tattle.
My attorney, Rachel Nguyen, said:
“You had a reasonable basis to perceive immediate danger. That doesn’t automatically settle proportional force.”
Mark had a bruise on his hip.
No fracture.
No head injury.
He declined medical treatment beyond evaluation.
He filed no separate complaint at first.
Then his attorney raised it after charges against him became likely.
The prosecutor reviewed the recording, 911 call, context, and injury.
No criminal charge was filed against me.
That did not mean the kick became wise.
In therapy, I had to admit something ugly:
Part of me enjoyed making him hit the tub.
I wanted him scared.
That was not protection.
That was rage.
The protective action was removing Sophie.
Calling police.

Locking the bedroom door.
The kick existed in a more complicated place.
