Chapter 12 - My social-media mistake

I almost repeated an old family pattern.

Humiliation as correction.

The morning after Arturo’s attorney denied wrongdoing, I drafted a post.

Not public Facebook.

A private family group.

I attached Sofia’s account of the payment and wrote:

For anyone still defending Dad, here’s what he bought for $200.

Then I stopped.

Noah’s face was visible in one party photo.

Mud running down his shirt.

I looked at it.

What exactly was I about to do?

Use my son’s humiliation to win an adult argument.

Same mechanism.

Different intention.

I deleted the draft.

Instead I sent a short factual message to relatives who had attended:

Yesterday’s incident was not an accidental prank. Arturo paid Sofia in advance to dump muddy water over Noah’s cake. Sofia has acknowledged her role and apologized. We are handling the family and financial issues privately. Please do not circulate photos or video of Noah.

That was all.

No audit accusation.

No signature.

No dramatic labels.

Aunt Teresa replied:

Thank you.

Cousin Mark:

I deleted my video.

Good.

One relative sent:

Your father said you are trying to steal the company.

I ignored it.

Not every lie requires immediate combat.

That was new.
