Chapter 17 - Arturo’s counterattack
Arturo did not quietly accept the special committee.
He called shareholders.
Former employees.
Longtime vendors.
His story:
Elena had become power hungry.
She used a family birthday argument to seize control.
The audit was a pretext to remove the founder.
She cut off her sister financially to force loyalty.
She manipulated Sofia into accusing him.
Some people believed pieces.
Because pieces were true in distorted form.
I had cut off Lucía’s payments.
I did control 52 percent voting equity.
I did shove Arturo into cake.
I did want his authority limited.
That is how effective counterattacks work.
They do not require pure fiction.
Rebecca said:
“Do not respond emotionally.”
I hated that sentence enough to embroider it.
We responded through board governance.
Special committee.
Independent findings.
No self-authored investigation.
I temporarily recused from decisions concerning Arturo’s alleged document misconduct.
Why?
Because I was both the person whose signature had been copied and the majority shareholder.
Arturo laughed when he heard.
“Playing saint.”
No.
Process.
The more personal he made it, the more procedural I became.
That protected me.
