Chapter 16 - Barron finally chooses a side
Barron came to Adrian’s office with his own attorney.
He wanted to give a full statement.
Why now?
Guilt.
And fear.
Celina had told him:
“If you say anything against Luke, you are destroying our son.”
Barron believed that for weeks.
Then he listened to my 911 call.
He heard me crying.
He heard himself in the background saying nothing.
That apparently changed him.
His statement:
Luke knew I planned to leave.
Celina came intending to pressure me into staying and signing.
Barron came because he believed he could calm everyone.
When Luke hid my keys, Barron objected quietly.
Did nothing else.
When Celina struck me, Barron knew the injury could be serious.
He told Luke to call for help.
Luke refused.
Barron followed them upstairs because Celina demanded:
“Come help us figure this out.”
They spent roughly twenty minutes arguing over what to tell police or doctors.
Barron said he repeatedly insisted:
“We tell the truth.”
Luke insisted:
“If Clover calls someone, she’ll make this look deliberate.”
Celina cried.
Then said:
“I didn’t mean to break anything.”
That sentence mattered.
Admission of act.
Denial of intended outcome.
Plausible.
Barron also knew about the business guaranty pressure.
Did he know Luke had forged my signature?
“No.”
Did he suspect?
“He said the bank paperwork was handled.”
