Chapter 9 - Luke’s version
Luke did not admit fraud.
He did not admit responsibility for my fracture.
His lawyer released a statement:
There had been a heated domestic dispute.
Clover had attempted to leave while emotionally distressed.
Celina had picked up the rolling pin only after Clover became physically aggressive.
Clover fell while backing away.
Luke believed she had suffered a minor sprain.
He did not prevent her from calling for care.
The recorded phrase:
“Tomorrow we’ll say she fell”
was supposedly taken out of context.
According to Luke, he meant:
“We’ll explain that the injury happened during a fall rather than from direct impact.”
Technical.
Almost clever.
Then the kitchen recording was enhanced.
Celina:
“I barely touched her.”
Me:
“My foot is numb.”
Barron:
“She needs a doctor.”
Luke:
“She needs to stop performing.”
Then later:
“Tomorrow we’ll say she fell.”
The context did not improve him.
His attorney also attacked the recording itself.
Could it be edited?
Adrian expected that.
The original phone was imaged by police.
File metadata.
Continuous waveform.
Device timestamps.
No sign of splicing.
