Chapter 14 - THE SECOND BOTTLEPolice searched our home only after consent and later appropriate legal process.

They found the original pharmacy carton in the trash.
Not the cefdinir bottle.
The box.
The printed medication leaflet had been torn in half.
Linda’s fingerprints were on it.
Again, our house.
Not surprising.
More useful:
A measuring syringe in the medicine bag contained residue consistent with cefdinir.
Another syringe contained acetaminophen.
So real antibiotic had been administered at least early.
No one could say exactly how many doses.
Pharmacy volume records and the bottle level suggested Owen likely received between one and three full doses out of the eight or nine he should have received by the pediatric visit.
That mattered medically.
It also corrected my fear.
For days I believed he received none.
Evidence suggested some.
