Chapter 26 - THE AMBER BOTTLEThree years after the pediatric exam room, Dr. Sterling’s office changed pharmacies.

The new pharmacy used clear bottles for some medications.

I did not care.

Then Owen got strep throat at four and received a liquid antibiotic in an amber bottle.

I froze at the kitchen counter.

Same color.

Different drug.

Different year.

Owen said:

“Mom?”

I realized I had been staring.

“What?”

“Is it yucky?”

“Probably.”

“Can Dad give it?”

Daniel was picking the children up for dinner under our regular parenting schedule.

The old me almost said no automatically.

Our custody agreement allowed him to administer prescribed medicine.

He had spent years complying.

I said:

“Yes.”

Then I texted him the instructions.

Not because I distrusted him uniquely.

Because co-parenting means sharing information.

Daniel replied:

Got it. I’ll send you dose time after.

He did.

No secret syringe.

No false log.

May you like

No grandmother override.

The bottle became medicine again.
