Police did not discover the Continuity Care Plan by magic.
Aurelia’s attorney produced it after investigators learned of Laurel Finch and served appropriate requests.
The folder contained:
A draft Household Continuity Agreement.
A proposed caregiver authority form.
A school-access authorization.
A medical-information authorization.
A residence schedule.
A family statement.
Nothing transferred legal custody by itself.
Nothing made Aurelia a mother.
Nothing terminated my rights.
But together, they would give her extensive practical authority if I signed.
The proposed terms:
The estate designated as the children’s primary residence for eighteen months.
Aurelia given authority to coordinate school, therapy, nanny schedules, and routine medical appointments.
I retained final legal authority.
Travel longer than seven days required notice to Aurelia.
Any relocation from the estate required sixty days’ family consultation.
Why?
“Stability.”
A word I was beginning to distrust.
Then the family statement.
Draft language:
Following Rosalie’s death, Aurelia has served as the children’s primary continuity caregiver.
Primary.
Not support.
Not aunt.
Primary.
That was not accurate.
She had done a great deal.
So had I.
