Chapter 22 - The civil consequences

There was no dramatic criminal trial against Victoria for ripping my sleeve.
I did not press for prosecution.
The conduct was documented by venue video and witnesses.
I chose not to pursue a separate case after consulting counsel.
That was my decision.
The hospital abduction case could not prosecute Deborah or Marian because both were dead.
But state authorities corrected historical records where possible.
My birth certificate required a legal process.
DNA.
Hospital records.
Court order.
Not one dramatic clerk stamping:
Real identity restored.
I chose to remain Claire Monroe legally.
Victoria asked once:
“Would you ever add Ashford?”
“Maybe as a middle name.”
Then:
“Not now.”
She never asked again.
My legal birth record eventually reflected Victoria and Jonathan as biological parents while documenting the delayed correction through proper channels.
