If Diane believed Olivia at first, that was awful but understandable in one narrow sense.
A daughter says someone stole money.
Mother reacts.
Then the video proves Olivia staged it.
Why hit me?
Why not Olivia?
Why anyone?
Diane’s first statement through counsel was:
“I became overwhelmed.”
She said the television footage, people shouting, and my “aggressive posture” caused panic.
She remembered picking up the bat.
She said she intended to smash the television.
Then:
“I don’t remember the impact.”
The video contradicted parts.
She did not face the television when she swung.
She faced me.
I was holding Lily.
Her bat traveled horizontally into my head.
Not toward the screen.
Could a person in rage have confused her own intention after?
Yes.
Could she be lying?
