Chapter 8 - OLIVIA THE PROTECTED ONEOlivia and I grew up in the same house.

Not the same family.
I was four years older.
At sixteen, I had a job.
At sixteen, Olivia was “sensitive.”
If I forgot homework:
Irresponsible.
If Olivia forgot:
Overwhelmed.
If I borrowed Mom’s shoes without asking:
Disrespectful.
If Olivia used my clothes:
She admires you.
I loved her.
That is important.
I also resented her.
Both.
Our father saw the pattern.
Once, when I was twenty-one, he said:
“Your mother worries more about Olivia.”
“Why?”
“She thinks you’ll land on your feet.”
That sentence became our family’s moral loophole.

Olivia needs protection.
