Chapter 13 - WHAT ROBERT SAID BEFORE THE STRANGE SENTENCEThe full clip lasted six minutes and fourteen seconds.
The courtroom had seen only the central portion because Louise requested limited playback pending further foundation.
Later, with counsel present, we watched the whole thing.
Dad entered kitchen at 10:41 p.m.
He filled a glass.
Left.
Vanessa entered two minutes later.
She opened the medication drawer.
Removed his clonazepam bottle.
Put something into her palm.
Dad returned unexpectedly.
Vanessa’s hand moved over the glass.
The camera angle could not prove a tablet entered.
Dad saw enough to react.
“What did you put in here?”
Vanessa denied.
Andrew entered.
Argument.
Dad said:
“I’m done with both of you deciding what medicine people need.”
That sentence.
Both of you.
Not just Vanessa.
Then:
“I found the papers.”
Andrew froze.
“What papers?”
Dad:
“St. Vincent’s.”
Hospital name.
Andrew:
“Dad, not now.”
Dad:
“I had it tested.”
Then Dad looked toward the timer.
“Margaret… Andrew is not our son.”
The off-camera voice:
“Don’t show her.”
Then Dad turned toward the voice.
“You knew?”
The clip ended six seconds later as someone moved near the timer and blocked the lens.
That additional line narrowed the mystery.
Whoever spoke may have known something about Andrew’s origin.
Mom recognized the voice.
Still refused to name it immediately.

Because fear and loyalty do not dissolve simply because a judge asks a question.
