His position:
He followed an operations instruction to solve a premium cabin shortage.
The booking system displayed confusing fare data.
He selected a father and child together to avoid separating them.
He did not know I was a veteran until Captain Callahan saw the ID.
He did not discriminate based on military service.
He had not mocked my cane.
He had no authority to offer the level of compensation a volunteer demanded.
He believed he could issue downgrade compensation afterward.
Some of that was true.
The airline’s own system had displayed legacy coding poorly.
The supervisor had told him:
“Fix the premium conflict before close.”
No detailed method.
Dalton made a bad decision inside a messy system.
That did not make him a cartoon villain.
Then internal messages revealed something else.
Before boarding, another employee suggested:
“Ask for volunteers in F.”
Dalton replied:
“No time. Move the award pair.”
Award pair.
