Chapter 26 - THE NEXT FLIGHTTwo years and eleven months after the first-class incident, Maya and I flew again.

Not first class.
Comfort-plus type seats.
Plenty.
My leg had worsened slightly with arthritis around the old injury.
I requested preboarding and wheelchair assistance for the longest airport corridor.
The old me would have refused.
Maya said:
“Why chair?”
“Because walking that far hurts.”
“Okay.”
No shame.
At the gate, an agent said:
“Mr. Vance, we can board you and your daughter now.”
I almost said:
“We can wait.”
Then stopped.
Accommodation offered.
Need real.
Accept.
We boarded.
Nobody saluted.
May you like
Nobody knew my name.
Perfect.
