Police found evidence at Voss’s hunting cabin.
Not Emily.
Not Natalie.
Evidence.
Two women’s hair profiles.
Food packaging.
A prescription bottle bearing Emily’s name.
Blankets.
Duct tape matching the brand found in the Hale basement.
A notebook page in Emily’s handwriting:
Claire knows the blue folder.
I did not.
Not yet.
Then I remembered something.
Emily gave me a blue accordion folder three months before her disappearance.
“Old insurance stuff.”
I put it in my garage cabinet.
Never opened it.
Police did.
Inside:
Copies of Northcross invoices.
Bank-transfer records.
Emails between Voss and Richard.
And one handwritten note:
May you like
If anything happens to me, do not believe Richard if he says I was confused.
I sat on my garage floor and cried until Ortiz took the folder away.
